“How did you hear about Nussbaum?”- Saige
“I filled out a form on the internet, and Joe reached out thinking I was a driver. ”- Caleb
“My wife Jordan has been the one thing in my life that has stayed consistent through everything.”-Caleb
“I advocate for foster care. It’s been the hardest experience of our life, but we didn’t do it for us. There are 500,000 kids in the US alone who need a home. If we are going to support the babies being born, we need to be a part of caring for them and their parents.” -Caleb
If you’ve ever met Caleb Gee, you’re bound to recognize three things. One, Caleb is contagious. Two, growth is a part of his nature. Three, he understands the Fatherly heart of God.
Contagious Caleb
I saw Caleb Gee before I ever met him (see the uncomfortable picture of his face up against a glass window).
He was a special member of the recruiting team that left Nussbaum a few months before I started. I heard about him often. One day Joe Anderson came to work and explained how Caleb recommended taking ice-cold showers – how it has a million benefits for your health. The recruiting team and I laughed about it and made fun of Joe for trying it. However, next thing we all know, every one of us tested out the ice-cold showers. When Caleb returned to the recruiting department, I recognized how genuinely contagious he was. I think it begins with his humor.
“Jordan and I bought a batch of baby chickens. One day we noticed one was looking slightly different, and it kept trying to crow. Surely enough, that chicken grew into a rooster. We bought a collar for him. It’s a no-crow collar. We are hoping he stops, otherwise soon, we will need to eat him.”
His humor is noteworthy, but it’s his zeal for life and growth that is truly contagious.
Growth
I asked Caleb, what has your life been filled with? Naturally, he replied, “Studying the bible, spending time with my kids, reading books on business, trying different jobs, expanding my family, and moving homes.”
Some people don’t enjoy change and growing pains, but that’s not the truth for Caleb. His first interaction connecting with Nussbaum was Joe mistaking him as a driver. After sorting out the confusion, Caleb was hired as a driver manager. He loved to tease everyone at Nussbaum that had family members working there. He and his self-designated sister, Angie Green, were the only workers without family in the office. But after a short while, God opened doors to provide positions for his dad, father-in-law, and his sister. Talk about growth!
The Father Heart of God
Caleb and Jordan Gee have a large family. They have five children, two of whom are adopted. Throughout many years of change (different jobs, different homes, and more), Caleb attributes the support from his wife Jordan as the most consistent part of his life.
A few months before he originally started at Nussbaum, Caleb shares, “We had a stillborn, but I was never angry with God about it. Looking back, if we didn’t lose our baby, we may have never had Anabelle or adopted Maya and Lanie. Who am I to question God’s plan? My job is to bring Him glory.”
The trust Caleb has toward God’s ability to work a greater purpose in the pain we walk through is a beautiful thing to witness. He understands we live in a broken world, but God’s heart is to care for us like we are his children. “God doesn’t want robots; he wants us to choose to love him like I want my children to choose to love me.” He also advocates for those in a place able to be used by God to consider foster care.
“I advocate for foster care. It’s been the hardest experience of our life, but we didn’t do it for us. There are 500,000 kids in the US alone who need a home. If we are going to support the babies being born, we need to be a part of caring for them and their parents.”
The laughter, the unafraid zeal for growth, and the heart for people make Caleb a true gem to have on the team at Nussbaum. His overflowing joy fills the office, and his passion for caring for and loving those around him is palpable. We are thankful to have him!
