We’re expanding our team of Diesel/Trailer Maintenance Technicians at our main shop in Hudson, IL. In this role, you will perform repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet equipment (semi-trucks & trailers), as well as DOT equipment inspections. You’ll need a safety-first mindset, strong organizational skills, and ideally a Diesel Tech degree or a year+ experience as a diesel/heavy-duty trailer mechanic. We need working equipment ready to go at all times, so this role is critical to Nussbaum’s success! Your duties include:

  • Preventative maintenance on semi-trucks & trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair fleet equipment.
  • Perform all inspections, including State and Federal mandated safety inspections.
  • Complete repairs following DOT requirements.
  • Perform system repairs, including air & hydraulic systems, tires, suspension, electrical, etc.
  • Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned tractor/trailer equipment.
  • Follow safe work practices.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area.

Schedule 

  • Full-Time position; hiring for both 1st & 2nd shifts (schedule may vary, some weekend rotations).
    • 1st Shift: 8hr shifts, 5 days per week.
    • 2nd Shift: 10hr shifts, 4 days per week.

Job Requirements

  • Diesel Technician Degree OR 1+ years of experience as a diesel/heavy-duty trailer technician/mechanic.
  • Safety-first mindset.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other automotive systems.
  • Strong understanding of diesel automotive systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of diesel/trailer maintenance processes and methods.
  • Effective communication with colleagues and superiors.
